- amd (the auto-mounter) configuration
- Introduction

- _L_i_n_u_x_c_o_n_f knows little about the _a_m_d auto-mounter. There is no known
- default configuration file for it. We are proposing //eettcc//ccoonnff..aammdd..mmaapp.
-
- _L_i_n_u_x_c_o_n_f knows how to start and restart the amd server depending on
- the status of the file //eettcc//ccoonnff..aammdd..mmaapp. At this point this is all
- _L_i_n_u_x_c_o_n_f is doing about it.
-
- A sample conf.amd.map is supplied in /usr/lib/linuxconf. This file is
- used for _N_F_S. Whenever you installed this file in //eettcc and start the
- _a_m_d server, you will get a "magic" //nn directory. Whenever you will do
-
- ls /n/any-host/dir/...
-
- the auto-mounter will wake up and establish the _N_F_S mount (if
- possible) to this "any-host" server. The mount will be dropped after 5
- minutes of inactivity.

- At this point, it is not clear how amd will be supported. Different
- technology can be used to achieve some of the feature of amd. Opinion
- are welcome about this.
